RCJSC Top Shots

Level -> Age & Experience mapping

RCJSC TS Level  Age Group Years Experience Original FFA TS Level
1 5 - 6 0 - 1  N/A
2 7 - 8 1 - 2 1 (U8)
3 9 - 10 2 - 3 1 (U10)
4 11 - 12 3 - 4 1 (11+)
5 13 - 14 4 - 5 2
6 15 - 16 5+ 3

Note - these mappings are preliminary suggestions only.

The mappings are open to discussion by RCJSC's coaching fraternity and should always be subject sound judgement and common sense by the coaches, managers and parents when considering any specific individual.

For example, if any player wishes to enter the NTC / VIS / AIS development pathway then they should be made aware that they are likely to need Level 6 skills prior to applying for those environments (NTC entry age is usually U14) - simply because many of those competing for places will have skill at that level.  Similarly, if any coach has ambitions of taking a team into the Super League competition, then the majority of his or her squad will probably need to be one or two years in advance of these suggestions.

No child should be discouraged from attempting levels above their age or playing experience and should be encouraged to attempt ever higher levels.  Children should, however, be discouraged from 'certifying' themselves against levels which are patently well below their age and / or playing experience.  This will achieve little in terms of improving the child's football skill.  A higher level is deemed to include all lower levels.
