Eastern Region Clubs agree to 2009 Gala Day dates and locations

Several Clubs in the Eastern region have met and agreed to conduct a program of Gala Days to be run within the region during the SSF season.  The clubs currently active in this program are Boronia, Croydon City Arrows, Knox United, Montrose, Mooroolbark and, of course, Ringwood City,

These days will generally be held in the morning of the third Saturday of each month.  This will allow the clubs to also participate in the Gala Days being conducted under the auspices of Football Federation Victoria (FFV) if they wish.  The hosting of the Gala Days will rotate between the participating clubs.

Who can participate in the Eastern Region SSF Gala Days?

The intention is to provide the U5 - U8 SSF participants with experiences of club versus club football within the Small-Sided Football formats.  Children playing in the U9/U10 weekly fixtures will not be allowed to participate in Gala Day activity.

Each club can field as many teams in each age group as they wish.  Each team may consist of up to 8 players with a maximum of 5 on the field at any one time.  There is no limit to the number of interchanges.  Each club must provide a Game Leader for each team participating on the day.

What is the Gala Day format?

Each Gala Day will commence with a team registration and introductory period staring at 10:00 am.  Teams will be organised into 2 age groups - U5/U6 and U7/U8.

Each team will then play 2 games within their age group, each of 2 x 15 minute halves with the first round commencing at 10:45 am.  Multiple games for each age group will be held concurrently.

Specific fixtures for the day will be published by the host club when the number of teams in each age group from each club is known.
