Football Federation Victoria (FFV) announces new 2008 Gala Day dates and locations

Football Federation Victoria (FFV) has announced a number of Gala Days to be run throughout the metropolitan area during June and July (see ' FFV 2008 Gala Days' link in side panel).

The intention is to provide the U7 & U8 SSG participants with experiences of club versus club football while retaining the Small-Sided Games formats.

Who can participate in the FFV SSG Gala Days?

Gala Days are focused on the 7 or 8 year old SSG participants (i.e. those born in 2000 or 2001) and preference will be given to children born in those years.  Children born before 2000 will not be allowed to participate.

Each club can field up to 4 teams – 2 x U7 (born in 2001) and 2 x U8 (born in 2000).  Each team may consist of up to 8 players with a maximum of 5 on the field at any one time.  There is no limit to the number of interchanges.  Each team must have a Game Leader for each session.

What is the Gala Day format?

Each team will play in 2 games on each Gala Day, each of 2 x 20 minute halves.  The U7 games will be held in the morning and the U8 games in the early afternoon.  There could be up to concurrent games at the same location.

What do you need to do to participate in the Gala Days?

Please Email Dave of your desire to participate as soon as possible and provide the following details

  1. your child's name
  2. which sessions you are interested in - you can nominate as many as you wish, but ultimately Ringwood City will only be participating in a maximum of 4, so we will pick the 4 most popular if there is any decision to be made.  Please note the locations of the days.
  3. indicate whether you are willing and able to act as either a Game Leader (who will 'referee' at least one of the games that team plays on each day that team plays) or in any other 'supervisory' type role for the team.

Dave will collate the information provided and assist in deciding the teams and sessions.  Registrations for the sessions are due by June 3.
