2008 U10 Rooball News

Season Summary

After getting about 7 new players this year we have turned into a fantastic team with improvement in every single player, the new boys who’ve not played football before this year really have come on in leaps & bounds.  So please all of you feel proud of yourselves & your teammates as well.

Our results this year are as follows, 16 games played 10 won, 5 lost, & 1 drawn game...

Thanks ever so much to Rob for all he’s done this season & to everyone else who helped a big thanks to you too...

Craig

Glen Waverley (Round 17, August 23)
Glen Eira (Round 18, August 30)

Our 2nd last game was played away at Glen Waverley & luckily for us after having a 2-0 lead at half time we came away with a 3-2 win.

All players played really well with our boys maintaining their winning way & making up for the 1-0 loss we had earlier in the year when we played at Glen Waverley.

Our last game for season 2008 was at home playing our nemesis Glen Eira, our last meeting was away to them & we had our worst defeat for the year 6-0.

However this time we had their measure & after a very entertaining 1st half we went to the break 0-0.

Unfortunately the 2nd half they scored 4 goals with 3 being very lucky goals, at the games end the 4-0 result really didn’t show how well the game was played & especially how well we had played.  A fantastic effort by everyone so: boys feel proud.

Craig

Mooroolbark (Round 16, August 9)

Today we played at home against Mooroolbark.  Mooroolbark, who only had 8 players, borrowed Lincoln & Cody from our team.

The 1st half was contested really well by both teams with Ringwood having the edge & the lead at half time 2-1.

For the 2nd half Lincoln came back to our team as Mooroolbark managed to get some of their U9's to help them out.  Cody, though, continued to play for them for the game’s duration.

The 2nd half was dominated by Ringwood with our boy's scoring a further 3 goals to win the game in the end 5-1.

Julian & Tristan both scored 2 goals with Harry getting 1.  Man of The Match this week went to Chris Young for his great effort & saves in goal.  Tristan got the Personal Best award today for a great game.

Thanks to Amy for being ref & to Tim & Michael for being linesmen.

Sam was Captain today & did a fantastic job.

Special thanks to Cody for helping out Mooroolbark, I think he quite enjoyed playing against his team mates.  A really nice gesture from Mooroolbark was giving Cody a little trophy for helping them out.

Congratulations Boys & see you all at training on Wednesday night.

Craig

Ashburton II (Round 14, July 26)

This week we played away against Ashburton II.

The first half produced two goals to Ringwood, one to Tristan and one to Harry, with some good saves by Christopher Young to deny Ashburton any goals.

The second half was dominated by Ringwood with our boys getting a further three goals, one to Alex and a further two to Harry.

Man of the Match this week went to Michael and Personal Best to Christopher Young.

Denham was Captain this week, congratulations on a job well done!

Training will be as usual on Wednesday night at 6.00 pm even though we have a Bye next Saturday.

cheers

Craig

Riversdale (Round 13, July 19)

This week's game was played at home to Riversdale.

Right from the kick off we took control of the game scoring 2 quick goals, one to Harry & one to Julian.  Our boys really attacked well forcing Riversdale's defence into working overtime.  Riversdale hit back well with a goal of their own to end the first half 2-1 with ours boys in front.

The second half started off like the first with Harry scoring his 2nd & Alex netting one as well.  However Riversdale came back strongly forcing our defence into action before they broke through to score 2 quick goals.  Ringwood responded well with Harry scoring his 3rd goal for the day, Riversdale again scored before Cody made it our day by netting his first, and Ringwood's 6th, goal for the day .

A deserved 6-4 victory to Ringwood with Julian doing a great job as captain, well done.

Harry picked up man of the match with Julian getting the personal best award.

Many thanks to Julian's sister Amy for being the Ref & to Alex's dad Michael for being linesman.

Craig

Ashburton (Round 12, July 12)

This week we were away at Ashburton.

After starting the day with a fairly quick goal for Ringwood by Harry, Ashburton bounced back to score 2 goals to make it 2-1 at half-time.

The second half was probably the most exciting soccer we've played all year with Ringwood scoring a further 4 goals and Ashburton scoring a further 2 making a final winning score to us of 5-4.  Our goal scorers in the second half were Julian (2), Alex (1) and Harry (1) - well done boys!

Our captain this week was Nick who was also awarded Man of the Match - well done Nick!

This week three personal best awards were given out to Denham, Jake and Lincoln.

Thanks to Mervyn (Lincoln's dad) for being linesman.

Craig

Brighton (Round 11, July 5)

Today we played at Brighton with an early 9am start, with only 9 players we had to borrow a Brighton boy to help us field 10v10.

The first half we really dominated the game with Julian, Harry & Alex all having shots on goal. Alex snatched a lovely goal to give us a 1-0 lead at half-time.

The second half was basically a copy of the first with most of the play coming from our boys.  This half produced 3 more goals for us with Alex getting another & one goal each for Cody & Tristan, who got his first goal for the season.  Brighton also scored 2 goals in the second half but at the games end it was a fantastic win for Ringwood 4-2.

All of our players played really well, a special mention to Jake who was captain today and had a great game.

Our man of the match this week went to Alex with Sam getting the Personal Best award.

Thanks to our 2 linesman this week, Nathan (Christopher Rose's brother) & to Kieran Steginga (Ringwood U12) who is Chris Young's cousin.

Remember boys it's important to get to training each week & if you can't please phone Rob or myself.

This especially goes for game days as by not informing us that you're not playing we come up short with players & may have to forfeit a game.

Also Parents, please see me about the club trivia night on 19/7/08, tickets just $10.00 per head.  A table from our team would be fantastic...

Craig

Richmond (Round 10, June 28)

This week's game was played at home to Richmond.  All the boys played a fantastic game with Ringwood having possession of the ball for the majority of the match.  At half-time there was no score but in the second half Alex and Cody each scored a fantastic goal to give us a winning score of 2-0.

Lincoln was Captain today and did a great job.  Man of the Match went to Michael this week, with Personal Best award going to Tristan - well done boys.

Thank you to Greg Rose for linesman duties.

The boys worked really well as a team this week, everyone please try and be at training on Wednesday, let Rob or Craig know if you can't make it.

Caroline Young (Team Manager's better half!)

Croydon City Arrows (Round 9, June 21)

This week we played away at Croydon City Arrows.  It was a fantastic game with both teams playing really nice football.  The game was filled with some exciting plays by both teams & all players played really well.  Some good saves by Chris Young in goals with nice forward runs by Harry, Sam, Alex & Cody.

However, the game wasn't ours today with Croydon scoring 2 tight goals in the 2nd half.  I must congratulate the defenders who really did a good job overall in the game.

Our captain this week was Cody & a great job he did, man of the match this week was Chris Rose & we had 2 players awarded personal best awards this week Lincoln & Denham.

Well done boys, your game is really improving each week, continue to enjoy yourselves.

Croydon's coach paid us a nice compliment in saying we were the best team they'd played this year.

Craig

Doncaster (Round 8, June 14)

On a rather damp Saturday morning after arriving early for the photos our boys took on Doncaster.

In a match which was really dominated by Ringwood for the whole game we came away with a great win scoring 4 goals with Doncaster scoring a late goal as well, with 2 goals each going to Harry & Alex.

Alex was our captain today & what a great job he did, this week our man of the match went to Alex with Michael getting the personal best award.

Thanks also to Alex's dad Michael for being linesman.

See you all on Wednesday,

Craig

Glen Eira (Round 7, June 7)

It was an early 9am start this week as we played away at Glen Eira, the home team had a great start and scored 5 goals in the first half.  However our guys woke up for the second half and played really hard with Glen Eira only getting one goal in the second half.

Even though we ended up with a 6-0 loss, Rob the coach was impressed with the way the boys all made a great effort to improve in the second half.

Man of the match went to Cody and personal best to one of our new players Jake.

Well done to Christopher Rose on a job well done as captain, & thanks also to Nathan Rose for being a linesman.

IMPORTANT - Don't forget it is photo day at Manson next Saturday morning (14th June) our timeslot is 9.00 am so please arrive by 8.45 am at the very latest.

Also please bring your form filled in correctly with full payment.

Our home game against Doncaster will then kick off at 10.00 am.

Craig

Narrow loss to Glen Waverley (Round 6, May 31)

This week’s game was played at home to Glen Waverley who are probably the strongest & most well drilled team we've played so far this season.

The game was in the balance with numerous scoring chances going to both teams.  With Cody, Sam, Julian, Alex, Jayson & Harry all coming close to scoring, better luck next time boys.

However a 2nd half goal to our opposition was to be the winner with score at the game's end being a 1-0 win to Glen Waverley.

All our boys again played really well with the team starting to play as one.

Our man of the match this week was Alex with Michael getting the personal best award.  Congratulations to Harry on being captain & doing a fine job.

Welcome to our 2 new boys Nick & Jake who both played well on their debut for Ringwood City.

Nice to see both Lincoln & Chris Rose back in the team as well.

Thanks to Amy for being the ref & Michael (Alex's dad) for being linesman.

Craig

U10s win well (Round 5, May 24)

What a game, victory was ours with goals galore coming from our boys...

We played at Mooroolbark & won 7-1 with all boys having a wonderful game.

Sam & Cody scored 2 goals each with Alex Harry & Julian scoring one goal each.

Man of the match was Harry with Michael getting the personal best award.

Our captain for the game was Chris Young who did a fantastic job.  Chris also made his debut as our full time goal keeper, even though a late goal snuck in for Mooroolbark.  Well done to Chris.

A job well done by the whole team...  with a big thank you also to Michael's dad Tom for being linesman.

See you all at training on Wednesday night & if you can’t make it please let Rob or myself know...

Craig

Round 4, May 3 - Bye

U10 Rooball Match Report (Round 3, May 10)

Game 3 was played at home against Ashburton 2 with a score line of 1-1.

Once again our team produced some exciting football with many chances to win the game, however Ashburton's goalie seemed to always be in the way of our shots on goal...

Oh well better luck next time boys (& girls)...

Congratulations to our new player Julian who scored his first goal for Ringwood City on debut,

We would also like to thank both Clancy & Saffron from the Girls team who helped us out today with both girls playing a wonderful game.

Tristan was captain today & he did a sterling job in this most important role, thanks to Julian's sister Amy who helped "ref" the game & to Greg Rose who acted as linesman...

Fantastic to see the parents as usual all there cheering the team

See you all next Wednesday night at training 5.50pm - 7.00pm

Also next Saturday we have a bye so its a sleep in for everyone..

Craig Young (team manager)

Game 2 was away at Riversdale with the home team having the win 5-2, once again the boys played really well with their game improving all the time.
