2008 Junior club news archive Individual 2008 team news archives can be found by following the team links in the right hand side panel. Wanted: Junior girls to play soccer! Is your daughter interested in playing soccer but discouraged by having to play in boy’s teams? Girls’ soccer is expanding at Ringwood City Soccer Club. We are seeking expressions of interest from junior girls to play soccer in 2009 in all girls teams against other girls teams. To register your interest, please contact Tony Palmer on 0412 041 949 or email palmer67@bigpond.com If you like, come along to one of our Summer Kickabouts. They will be held on the first and third Wednesday of the month through November and December. So that is Nov 5, Nov 19, Dec 3 and Dec 17 starting at 6 pm until 730 pm. The venue is Jubilee Park (Melway 49 J11) next door to the Ringwood Aquatic Centre – access ground from Reilly St All you need are running shoes and a water bottle. So come along and join in on the fun in a relaxed environment. First timers are welcomed. No cost involved. The trials are open for potential members of Eastern Zone boys' teams in the U13, U14, U15 & U18 age groups, girls' U13, U15 & U17 age groups and the Open Women's age group.

It will be a great day - lots of fun things to do, food and drinks at reasonable prices (including some free for registered players!) and the chance to win Melbourne Victory family memberships Make sure that you put the date in your diary and we'll see you all bright and early on the 13th. [more] Working Bee at Manson Reserve - September 6 There will be a working bee at Manson Reserve on Saturday, September 6 starting at 9:00 am. The objective is to close off the club rooms and grounds after the 2008 season prior to handing them back to the cricket club for the summer. All contributions throughout the day will be most welcome! Eastern Region SSG Gala Day a great success!! Ringwood City Juniors hosted a 'local' Small-Sided Games (SSG) Gala Day for 5-8 year olds from four local clubs. The Gala Day was held at Manson Reserve on Saturday, August 16 between 10:00 am and 12:30 pm. The day saw teams from Ringwood's U6, U7 and U8 SSG age groups pitting themselves against teams from Boronia, Montrose or Mooroolbark in a 'round robin' format according to SSG formats and rules. The weather held off and a great day with lots of fun for the kids was enjoyed by all. The games were played in a terrific spirit and a fantastic atmosphere was present throughout proceedings. Thank you to all who contributed to a great day and all the contributing clubs are looking forward to repeating the experience much more often next year. Well done to all involved!! Free training for Volunteers to be held at Manson Ringwood City Junior Soccer Club will conduct a free training session for all parents, volunteers and club officials interested in skill development in young children in conjunction with Football Federation Victoria, The session will be conducted by Darren Tan, FFV’s Football Development Officer for the South-Eastern Metropolitan area, and will provide the attendees with insight into early development of soccer skills, different approaches to the early development programs and ways to improve the experience of kids learning 'the world game'. The session will be held at Manson Reserve on Saturday, August 2, 11:30 am -12:30 pm. The session will be very practical and 'hands on' - so come prepared! All are welcome. SSG Goes Indoor Action Indoor Sports Stadiums Ringwood have offered Ringwood City free use of their facility for a Saturday morning Small-Sided Games / Introductory Skills session. The club will take advantage of the offer on Saturday, July 26th. The session will be similar to a normal Saturday morning session although some adjustments will need to be made to accommodate the space, facilities and other users of the stadium on the day. The intention is to provide the U7 & U8 SSG participants with experiences of club v club football while retaining the Small-Sided Games formats [more] Please Email Dave of your desire to participate as soon as possible. Bayswater Indoor Soccer School Holiday Clinic Bayswater Indoor Soccer are conducting mid week clinics during the school holidays. [more] Junior club coaches and managers meetings Meetings of all junior team coaches and managers will be held every two months at Jubilee Park. See the junior club calendar for specific dates and times. Normal service resumed at Manson Reserve Maroondah Council and Football Federation Victoria (FFV) have both inspected the pitches at Manson Reserve recently and have given their 'ok' for the grounds to be used. Normal fixtures and training schedules, therefore, are resumed at Manson Reserve as of today (May 1). May 17 Gala Day postponed Unfortunately a number of factors have conspired to make it impossible for us to run our first Small-Sided Games Gala Day on May 17. We will catch it up at the end of the season, probably in the early weeks of September after the Junior season finishes. May 17, therefore will be a normal SSG / Introductory Skills morning. Our first Gala Day will now be June 21 and details will be provided closer to the date. SSG Gala Days commence June 21 Throughout the SSG season Ringwood City will combine with other nearby clubs to give the kids a chance to display their skills in a series of multi club 'Gala Days' 'Gala Days' [more] SSG season resumes at Manson Reserve We're back! Effective this week end (May 3) normal service for the SSG / Introductory Skills sessions has been resumed at Manson Reserve. Where? J.W. Manson Reserve When? 9:30-11:30 am, Saturdays Ex Socceroos and National Technical Director support SSG See videos of the National Technical Director, Rob Baan, ex-Socceroo captain Paul Wade and SBS football analyst and ex-Socceroo Craig Foster talk about Small-Sided Games and its implementation [more] Junior season commences April 26 / 27 Drought conditions permitting, the Junior and Rooball seasons will commence during the week end of April 26 / 27. Leagues will be finalised by March 24 and fixtures available by April 7. Details will be found on the junior leagues and junior fixtures websites in the right hand panel. SSG season resumes at Jubilee Park The Small-Sided Games (SSG) and Introductory Skills sessions have been relocated until the situation at Manson Reserve is resolved. The senior club has kindly offered the SSG group the use of their ground at Jubilee Park until Manson Reserve is able to be used again. The seniors are happy for the main pitch to be used, so that option is likely to be utilised. Those of you who registered with the club on registration day (Feb 10) will already be familiar with the ground. The details are: 9:30

[more] SSG season suspended pending improvements in ground conditions at Manson Reserve. Unfortunately persistent drought conditions have had an adverse impact on the grounds at Manson Reserve and we are obliged to suspend the SSG program until they improve. We were informed by council during the week that the grounds were considered too hard to play on and unsafe for players. We take the safety of the players very seriously and consequently we have little option but to suspend the SSG / Introductory Skills program at Manson until either its condition improves or we have access to a alternate venue. We will be reviewing the conditions regularly and will keep you informed of progress. I understand that most of the children will be disappointed, but unfortunately the situation is largely out of Ringwood City's control. Additional registration requirements for SSG participants It has come to the Junior committee's attention that there are further FFA registration requirements for SSG participants. Please come prepared when the SSG sessions commence at Manson Reserve [more] Please bring GoalKick ball to Introductory Skills sessions Where possible, could all participants from previous GoalKick programs please bring the ball they have received in that program to the Introductory Skills sessions commencing on April 5. All participants will be provided with a ball (size 3) through the 'Athlete's Foot' chain of stores some time in late June or early July when registrations have been processed by the FFV. At that time you will receive a voucher which may be redeemed at an Athlete's Foot outlet.
